AMERICANS ARE BEING DENIED JUSTICE
The January 6 Legal Defense Fund Foundation has been created as a non-profit organization for the sole purpose of reducing the financial burden on Defendants charged in connection with the events in Washington D.C. on January 6th – Defendants who wish to choose their own legal counsel rather than rely on counsel appointed for them by the same Government that is prosecuting them.
This Fund seeks to assist Defendants without the financial means to defend themselves. Donations to the Fund go directly to the attorneys defending the protestors and all attorneys receiving funds agree to a reduced fee arrangement in exchange for receiving assistance from Fund.
WE STAND IN THE GAP FOR AMERICANS
The Fifth Amendment of the Constitution provides that no person shall be denied their liberty without due process of law.
The Sixth Amendment provides that every person accused of a crime by the United States government shall be entitled to the effective assistance of competent legal counsel whose ethical obligation it is to “zealously” represent the Defendant’s interests.
One of the most important obligations we have as Americans is to protect and defend the Constitutional rights of others. One day in the future we may need to face the challenge of protecting and defending those same rights on our own behalf. If they are lost now to others, they may not be available to us in the future when we are in need.
HOW THE JANUARY 6 LEGAL DEFENSE FUND WORKS
The Fund does NOT provide legal representation or advice.
The relationship between the Defendants supported by the Fund and their attorneys is to be reflected in written agreements between them, and the Fund is not a party to such agreements.
